I have to tell you all of my childhood dreams that came true last weekend...

Since I was little, I always wanted to have my wedding reception in my parent's back yard. I always wanted a jazz band to play, I always wanted  my family members to sing and I always wanted to dance with my husband while my Dad sang to me!
I also wanted twinkly lights everywhere, good food and to be surrounded by the people I loved. Oh, the list of things I wanted just goes on and on, but the point I'm trying to make is that pretty much, a girl's silly imagination for what she wanted at her "wedding" came true for me last weekend. And even though I never thought I cared much for the colors, or the decorations at my reception, I did care that it had a good feel to it; a warm environment where family and loved ones would want to hang out and enjoy company and the atmosphere. From the spiritual sealing, to the heartfelt toasts at the luncheon, to the enchantment at the reception. It had an old-fashioned feel. This is what I felt the entire day was like. A warm, loving, happy environment. I hope you felt it too.:)

WE DID IT!

We DID IT!! What an AMAZING  and PERFECT day it was! I would relive our wedding day over and over if I could! So many brides say that they were nervous, stressed out, hungry, etc. That they didn't remember who came to the reception, what it looked like, how the cake tasted or any of that. I can say that I was able to enjoy everything! I might not have seen everyone at the reception, but Danny and I got to enjoy the amazing food, the delicious cake, watch the talented entertainment, and visit with most of our guests! Everyone looked so happy that night, happy and handsome :)
I remember, so far, every word from our sealer, and will never forget trying to hold back excited and adoring tears so hard that my lips were pursed and I held my breath! I just didn't want to smear my makeup and look like a blubbering bride!  So, instead I took my loudly audible gasp for air right when the sealer said, "Man and Wife"! It was a  perfect and yet hilarious moment. Some of you might have called it a "Normel".
More to come.......

Day of the wedding

Almost here!
We are excited to see all of you in a couple of days! If you would like to come see us "just married" coming out of the temple we will be coming out at roughly 12:30pm. We would love to see as many of you who would like to show up! We will be taking pictures afterwards before the luncheon.
We are KEENLY aware that it is the RS General  broadcast the night of the reception so we are planing on seeing a sparse amount of people at the reception before about 8pm. BUT I have heard from a lot of people that  they will be recording it and watching it later....which is exactly what I am doing ;)
See you all there!

Inaugural Post

Well! Here it is! The moment you wait for when you create a blog to celebrate being with someone you love! Who knew this would finally happen to us! We feel So blessed and we are so happy! We are anxiously engaged in a good cause ;)  Danny has always made me laugh with all of his cheesy one liners, he loves 80s music, we both love nature, the outdoors, traveling, sports, trying new things, and keeping healthy. We both love our Heavenly Father and are grateful to him for our testimonies of the gospel. Just 3 more weeks!

Melanie and I both feel blessed to have the association of so many amazing people around us, and are excited to share part of our life with all of you. Among all the "to-do's" associated with getting married, creating and updating a blog has now been added to the list. We hope to be able to update this periodically as we embark on this exciting journey so many of you are already on.

Upcoming Wedding and Gift Registry!!!
Only 3 MORE DAYS until we get married! Most of you should have got your announcements by now. As a matter of formality, we have registered at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond, however just your company alone would be more than enough for us.

Our Story
YAY! We are finally engaged! Most of you know "our story" and some of you don't! For those of you who know it, or think you know it, or don't know it at all.....let me give you the "cliff notes" version:

Danny and I met 4 years ago in June at a ASU Stake Young Adult activity. It was the stake co-ed volleyball tournament. Danny had just graduated from BYU and had moved down to Phoenix 2 weeks before and in with a guy named Justin(yes Justin, you made our blog ) he grew up with who happened to be in my ward. Earlier that evening Justin invited Danny to come with him to his ward Volleyball to meet a girl in his ward that was perfect for him (hint:it was me).  Yep....Justin was right and the rest was history from that night on. Danny came into building our eyes met, and we dated on and off for 4 years after that! One thing we learned was that timing is everything, and patience is that toughest virtue! :)

What We Are Up To
I have been and currently am in the business of pest control. I guess it started when I was a little kid after taking a magnifying glass to some ants, and since then I've never looked back. I started Desert Point Pest Control this past year and have been trying to grow it ever since. We are a small company, but are growing fast and beginning to make a name for ourselves in the East Valley. I have been fortunate to have great employees, and hope to grow even bigger in 2011. In addition to pest control, I also run a small, seasonal business that specializes in the arangement and installation of Christmas lights for residential and commercial properties. It's called Brite Nites Holiday Lighting and has proven to be the perfect complement to pest control when the busy season slows down.

Melanie is in her second year as music teacher at American Leadership Academy, a Steven R Covey charter school located in Gilbert. In addition to teaching students in the K-8 grades, she also is responsible for the choir program, jazz band, and most of the performing arts programs throughout the year. She will be organizing various concerts and we will be posting announcements as to when and where they are held. We invite everyone to come support her in her efforts. She is extremely talented, as most of you know, and her shows never disappoint. We hope to see you there!
